The Best New York Spas to Decompress During the Fairs and NYFW

We’ve curated a selection of our favorite wellness clubs, retreats, and spas throughout the city to help ease the stress of NYFW.

Next week, it’s back-to-school for the New York art and fashion worlds, with fairs like The Armory Show, Independent 20th Century, and more debuting alongside new gallery exhibitions around the city. The art fall season kicks off just as New York Fashion Week begins. It undoubtedly can be a hectic time, filled with shows, events, and getting around. To make the week a bit calmer, we’ve compiled a handful of the best New York spas and wellness retreats throughout the city that are offering a unique blend of holistic treatments in some truly stunning spaces.

OASES

At the newly opened OASES in Chelsea—not quite a spa, but an ideal place to relax and reenergize from the hustle and bustle of the city—Ayurvedic principles of balance and harmony take center stage. The 5,000-square-foot space is warmly lit and admirably expansive, blending contemporary aesthetics with ancient influences. The space comprises an all-day Café and Bazaar, with a full-service restaurant and bar opening later this month. Pancakes are flavored with ube, raw cacao, and ceremonial matcha; the bar is set to offer natural wine and bespoke cocktails. Founder Sonam Sangmo brings a unique background to the table: shaped by her Himalayan and Buddhist upbringing in India, she’s worked at Ralph Lauren among other luxury fashion houses.

What we love: Indulge in the Bazaar’s Korean skincare and Japanese matcha before heading to the Café for pancakes.

Remedy Place

In lieu of traditional gym equipment and massage tables, Remedy Place in Flatiron opts for a fusion of alternative medicine and technology-forward wellness treatments while allowing members to have individualized self-care programs tailored for them. The club’s SoHo location, set to open this fall, will offer cutting-edge experiences like IV libraries and ice bath studios in a brutalist, chocolate-brown space, centering luxury and functionality at every turn. The facility will also offer AI-powered bodywork and host one of the only customizable infrared sauna suites in the country.

What we love: Remedy Place programs movie nights in its meditation cinema, allowing guests to sweat in the sauna while decompressing.

THE WELL New York

THE WELL New York brands itself as a one-stop shop for wellness, offering everything from an organic café to cold plunges to yoga classes to IV vitamin therapy to Chinese acupuncture. Guests are encouraged to take care of their body, mind, and spirit in one place under the guidance of world-renowned doctors, specialists, and practitioners. Just steps away from Union Square, this 13,000-square-foot space offers a true refuge from the city’s chaos.

What we love: At THE WELL, you can take a mat pilates class and then dip in the cold plunge for the perfect sensory reset.

Bathhouse

At Bathhouse, saunas and cold plunges are reconfigured as social experiences in a stark, brutal, and ethereal space. The spa has called Williamsburg home for five years, developing a cult following of wellness enthusiasts across the city. A new location in Flatiron promises an even more expansive experience: the facility features three saunas, six pools, and marble Hammans. Guests can traverse between Russian and Finnish-style saunas as well as cold plunges at varying temperatures, continually switching between different environments to achieve optimal levels of relaxation and restoration. The spa’s café also offers refreshing dishes free of sugar and seed oils.

What we love: Going back and forth between the sauna and the cold plunge before heading to the Williamsburg location’s fine-dining restaurant.
