The explorative female artist Terri Loewenthal brings new meaning to landscape photography, interweaving color and light for a prismatic view of our compelling environment. Miraculous, single-exposure images and in-camera compositions illuminate the beauty of a harmonious relationship between humanity and Mother Nature. A visual symphony of emotion and understanding unfolds, uplifting jubilant connection to our precious natural surroundings. The artist’s “collages in the air” center on the treasures of the isolated American West for all to admire.
California-based light and space visionary Phillip K. Smith III echoes Loewenthal’s rich investigations with light, developing illusory sculptures and site-specific masterpieces. In a signature minimalistic fashion, striking interventions in the open air as well as small-scale works take into consideration the complexities of their environments. In a deft union of mirrors, LED innovations, and the elegance of color and light, a revelatory viewer experience is in store.
What we love: Phillip K. Smith III draws from his training as both an artist and an architect from the Rhode Island School of Design to play dynamically with scale and audience immersion.

American artist Daniel Yocum infuses 20 years of skillful experimentation with various mediums into his latest presentation at Aspen’s Casterline Goodman.The avant-garde, self-taught painter invokes the boundless artistry of Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, and Robert Crumb into his imaginative works. A lyrical, rock and roll essence ebbs and flows throughout abstract expressionist pieces enhanced by imagery of sleek vehicles, industrial remnants, and blooming florals. Stirring colors and motifs conjure grit, glamor, and the thrill that mere objects can kindle within us.
What we love: The Aspen Art Week show marks Daniel Yocum’s first solo presentation, unveiling the deep impact of the New York School on his every nuanced brushstroke.

The legendary American artist Stanley George Miller, better known as Stanley Mouse, is beloved for his electrifying album and rock concert poster designs of the 1960s. His memorable work has been utilized by musical groups such as Journey, and the Grateful Dead, solidifying the creative as an integral aspect of rock history. For his inaugural Aspen exhibition, Mouse displays fine art paintings as well as well-known poster showpieces at Casterline Goodman’s Little Nell gallery space.
What we love: Ardent Stanley Mouse fans and newcomers alike will revel in the artist’s wit, audacity, and dazzling artistry that celebrates the guts and glory of rock and roll then and now.

Baldwin Gallery unveils its momentous second exhibition with luminary Mickalene Thomas alongside its third show with the visionary E.V. Day. Connecting the artistic powerhouses’ insights and enthusiasm throughout visceral and colorful works of art culminates in an unforgettable encounter for viewers.
Thomas presents an intermingling of paintings, collages, and screen prints embellished by shimmering rhinestones. Intimate, new visions of models seen in 70s editions of Jet Magazine speaks to the politics of feminism past, present, and future. In parallel, E.V. Day uncovers her inaugural exhibition of two-dimensional creations, employing poetic mixed media in the Velocity Drawings of breathtaking landscapes. My Crazy Sunshine sings with a vivid palette, while a whirlwind of gravity-defying gestures and astronaut imagery evokes an enduring quest for self-knowledge.
What we love: Both Thomas and Day have been exhibited throughout the premier art institutions of the world, from the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo to the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and a contemporary prowess is visible in each and every artwork.
