Giuseppe Zanotti recently debuted its men’s spring/summer 2018 collection, taking us back to the 1990s. The house states it was a “period of instinctive experimentation” and one where a multitude of trends were “broken down without following the rule book.” Light-wash, zippers, buckles, and deconstruction details were a deliberate move for many designers, as they followed the mood of the time. Today, Giuseppe Zanotti is revisiting that sentiment with sophisticated but eclectic styles.
The REFLECT denim loafer and the ARDELL biker boot are both reinterpretations of shoes worn on many music icons in the ‘90s. The neon trim on the MATT desert boot in textured leather is also a nod to Miami Boulevard, and the TIM deck shoe is in a digital print leather.
What we have today that the nineties didn’t is new technological advances. Research and development led Giuseppe Zanotti to techno-neoprene—enhanced by a 3-D rubber finish and metal logo, the CORY shoe is a soft, comfortable silhouette of note.
We also noticed a slip-on espadrille named MARLE, donned with black crystals, and CLIFFORD—a black shoe with a white sole, featuring a single-zip for cut-out effects with two zipper heads. DARIN, also great for summer, marks a return to the gladiator sandal, but this time, with a thin leather sole, and straps in camouflage.
