Frieze London 2017, open October 5-8, is an international destination every year. With an array of exhibitions open to the public, including site-specific installations, sculpture, performance, and multimedia art, the fair stuns with diversity, and a dedicated attendance of art world players from around the world.
For its occasion, Whitewaller heard from Laetitia Catoir, Director of Blain|Southern, on where to eat, sip, see art, have fun, and relax during the festive week.
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
I like brunch at Opso for an interesting twist on Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere. Dinings has the best sushi in town. Head to the Marylebone restaurant to experience the original. Dukes Bar in St. James’s has the perfect martini, and when the weather is good, Chiltern Firehouse is a great spot.
WHERE TO SEE ART
A favorite is the Victoria and Albert Museum. In the architecture collections is a hidden gem—original plans by contemporary and Renaissance masters sit side by side in drawers that you pull out. And you can find the most interesting and exciting contemporary African art at the 1:54 fair at Somerset House.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
London is the best city in the world for parks. In Regent’s Park this year, Frieze Sculpture’s open-air display makes it a must. Walk all the way to Primrose Hill for the best views over the city. Catch a concert at the stunning Wigmore Hall for the best acoustics for classical music in Europe.
