All this week in preparation for Frieze New York, we’re hearing from leading design, art, culture, and lifestyle experts on how they enjoy New York.
“A total hidden gem in Long Island City is The Noguchi Museum. The Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi designed this intimate museum to be a peaceful oasis away from the hectic pace of New York City. I also live close to the West Village, so I’m usually strolling in that area. It’s always great to stumble by Julian Schnabel’s enormous house, Palazzo Chupi, at 360 West 11th Street. And if you manage to get time to go to the Hamptons, another hidden gem is the Dan Flavin Art Institute in Bridgehampton—a tiny little house with a permanent collection. This place is mesmerizing. Every time I go, I’m totally encapsulated within the space.”
