Liste Art Fair Basel launches today in Basel, open in-person through September 26 and via Liste Showtime Online until September 30. Held for the first time at Hall 1.1 of Messe Basel, this 26th edition features a layout by architecture firm OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen i.c.w. Richard Venlet, which showcases 81 new and returning galleries from 33 countries, presenting works by a total of 106 artists.
Fairgoers will want to look out for presentations from new participants including the artist Saelia Aparicio with Madrid art space The Ryder, Moscow’s Fragment presenting work by Patricia Ayres, Felix Gaudlitz from Vienna sharing the work of Jenna Bliss, the Switzerland-based A. Romy presenting the artist Maya Hottarek, and a joint presentation of Sandra Poulson and Binelde Hyrcan from the Luanda-based Jahmek. Those present in previous years may recognize returning galleries like Mexico City’s Proyectos Monclova, blank from Cape Town, Maria Bernheim of Zurich, the Tehran-based Dastan’s Basement, Drei of Cologne, Piedras from Buenos Aires, Frutta of Rome, Paris-based Balice Hertling, Crèvecœur, and Exo Exo, Moscow’s Osnova, and Good Weather of North Little Rock.
Outside of the main gallery shows, those in attendance should check out Sculpture Piazza, presenting 11 large-scale works by artists like Theo Triantafyllidis, Kira Freije, Mamali Shafahi, and Phung-Tien Phan; an installation by Jade Fourès-Varnier and Vincent de Hoÿm of Jacent, who have created a special meeting and presentation place; and other events and happenings like conversations, video installations, and the presentation of the 18th Helvetia Art Prize. And finally, Liste Showtime Online will act as a space for both in-person and virtual fairgoers, including a special selection of 20 galleries attending exclusively online.
