Oscar-winning filmmaker and Turner Prize-winning artist Steve McQueen presents “Sunshine State” at Pirelli HangarBicocca, on view through July 31. Curated by Vicente Todolí, in collaboration with Tate Modern, McQueen welcomes visitors to share in works created throughout his life alongside the debut of Sunshine State: a video installation commissioned by the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2022. McQueen introduces a multi-sensory experience with six preeminent film/video projects and one sculpture, communicating through his art the provocative human experience, as only he can. “I am not interested in manipulating people. The complete opposite. I am interested in a truth…the most horrific things sometimes happen in the most beautiful places…I cannot put a filter on life. It’s about not blinking,” said McQueen.
