By Whitewall

February 29, 2016

The 16th edition of SCOPE New York returns to its location one block from the Armory Show piers at the Metropolitan West Pavilion. Showcasing work from 60 galleries, SCOPE New York is on view from March 3—6. Below, we hear from director Alexis Hubshman about this year’s showing.

“For SCOPE New York 2016, galleries focused on emerging artists are stepping up, taking bigger risks—as a result, the fair will be will hosting multiple solo exhibitions. Canadian gallery Barbara Edwards Contemporary, a member of the FEATURE Photography Program in SCOPE Miami Beach 2015, will present a solo show of Kristohper Karklin whose photographic works expand upon and challenge the traditional definition of photography. San Francisco-based Gauntlet Gallery will present an exhibition of Sean Newport’s three dimensional wall pieces that play with perspective using dimension and color. Kallenbach Gallery from Amsterdam, a member of SCOPE’s BREEDER Program, will put on a show of paintings by Jaybo Monk who’s work is inspired by the accidental and results in unexpected harmony.” — Alexis Hubshman
