On Tuesday, October 21 Creative Capital will host their 15th anniversary benefit and auction at Studio 450 in New York City. The event will include a silent auction and a drawing for the winner of the Miami art fair raffle (the winner will receive a three-night stay at the Delano Hotel South Beach from December 4-7 and special tours of the 2014 Miami art fairs). The benefit will see performances by awardees Sanford Biggers and Mood Medecin, Jace Clayton, Daniel Romain, and Kristina Wong.
Each year Creative Capital also partners with an artist to create an edition for the benefit. This year’s special edition is a photograph by Connie Samaras offered to everyone who purchases a premium ticket. The photo is from Samaras’ “Edge of Twilight series,” which captures an all woman, predominantly lesbian, RV retirement community located in the southwestern desert.
The online auction is now live and includes work by Patty Chang, Jeffrey Gibson, Carlos Motta, and Paul Shambroom amongst others. Of note are Chris Doyle’s watercolor The Falls VI, Brent Green’s mixed media piece He chased the bird around the yard, caught it, tried to break the egg inside the hen, and Quintan Ana Wikswo’s photograph LIGHT:LICHT (from SONDERBAUTEN: THE SPECIAL BLOCK).
Tickets for the Benefit & Auction start at $250 and can be purchased here; Premium tickets (including the Samaras edition) are $500 and can be purchased here.
