Last week, Daniel Arsham’s latest NFT collection debuted on Nifty Gateway using the brand-new minting service, CXIP. Made employing CXIP’s top-tier minting technology, Arsham’s new work follows his signature eroded aesthetic, taking the form of three digital car sculptures that deteriorate and regenerate with the passing of time.
“Daniel is one of the greatest artists of our time. NFTs are a medium of their own, and he makes excellent use of them as a medium,” said Griffin Cock Foster, co-founder of Nifty Gateway. “We are thrilled to be a trusted collaborator on this groundbreaking project, as well as leverage CXIP’s innovative minting software to issue NFTs for the first time on our marketplace.”
Pronounced “chip,” the company was the first to coin the term MaaS, or “Minting as a Service.” Made for accessibility and versatility across major NFT marketplaces, CXIP’s minting technology was conceived to place power in the hands of the artists, ensuring ownership and cross-market royalties using pioneering royalty mechanics.
“I’m excited to partner with groundbreaking platform CXIP as minter of my latest series of NFTs, Eroding and Reforming Digital Sculptures: Cars,” said Arsham. “In keeping with my other works, both physical and digital which operate on different time scales, these works use the time of specific rallies as their clocks, imagining a scenario at a well-known race which may exist in the past, present, or future.”
Available on Nifty Gateway until all editions sold, Arsham’s series includes the 200-piece Eroding and Reforming 356, which depicts the transformative vehicle on a scenic road of green; the desert driving Eroding and Reforming Safari 930, available in 150 editions; and the 99-editioned Eroding and Reforming 964, which features a wintery landscape blanketed in snow.
