The Design District in Miami gets bigger and better every year. And this week, the star of the show is the brand new ICA Miami. Here’s what they’ll have on view there and elsewhere around the neighborhood.
“FORCE AND FORM” AT THE DE LA CRUZ COLLECTION
December 2017—November 2018
“Force and Form” is a group show exploring shifts in visual culture in the late 20th century. Artists such as Tauba Auerbach, Dan Colen, Mark Bradford, Walead Beshty, Sigmar Polke, Glenn Ligon, Alex Israel, Sterling Ruby, Nate Lowman, Albert Oehlen, and others investigate issues of gender, identity, language, class, and power. Works in an array of media and material are on view, showcasing the artists’ ongoing experimentation in their practice.

“THE EVERYWHERE STUDIO” AT ICA MIAMI
December 1, 2017—February 26, 2018
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) opened its new home in the Miami Design District on December 1. Under the direction of Ellen Salpeter, inaugural exhibitions include work by Senga Nengudi, Edward and Nancy Kienholz, Hélio Oiticica, and Robert Gober. “The Everywhere Studio” anchors the inaugural program with work by modern and contemporary artists, as well as commissions by emerging artists.
NANCY DAVIDSON AT LOCUST PROJECTS
November 18, 2017—January 20, 2018
“Nancy Davidson: p e r Sway” is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Miami. The New York– based sculptor creates anthropomorphic inflatables depicting knots, figures, and body parts. Her immersive installation at Locust Projects deals with themes of ritual, sexuality, and theater, while juxtaposing privilege and parodies of power.
