Mickaël Doucet’s exhibition “Entrevoir” is now on view at BOA in Lisbon through June 19. Organized in collaboration with Marion Guggenheim, the show features a selection of the Paris-based artist’s striking oil paintings incorporating landscapes, architecture, and interiors.
In Doucet’s work, intricate compositions with lively, enticing colors depict lush landscapes through the viewpoint of contemporary structures with floor-to-ceiling windows and awe-inducing scenery. While viewers may be swept up in the peaceful scenes at hand—which feature detailed interiors with stylish, modern design—questions also come to mind regarding the humans who inhabit them, the fragile nature of life, and what lies beyond.
In the presentation, visitors can expect to find works like the 2019 oil on paper TRYPTIQUE LAISSE LE VENT DU SOIR DECIDER, a canoe floating on glassy water through the window of a room with a stone bust titled INDIANA LULLABY, and the entrancing night landscape in AD ASTRA.
