Frieze Los Angeles 2025 is Dedicated to Creative Recovery and Renewal

In the wake of the devastating LA wildfires, Frieze LA brings audiences and creatives together in transforming a daunting time into one of hope and healing.

On February 20, Frieze Los Angeles 2025 returns to the city with robust dedication to its ever-inspiring artistic community, as well as forging critical connections in the heartfelt rebuilding taking place in the wake of the devastating LA wildfires. 

Alongside the continued support of global lead partner Deutsche Bank, which has flourished over 20 years, the much-anticipated fair will once again unfold at the sweeping Santa Monica Airport. This year’s edition will embrace more than 95 local and international galleries, in addition to immersive public programming that brings audiences and creatives together in transforming a daunting time into one of hope and healing.

“We have worked to shape this year’s Fair as a platform for groups including Summaeverythang Community Center, The Black Trustee Alliance and AMBOS, and are working with our valued partners to facilitate acquisition funds that will directly benefit local artists,” added Messineo. 

Solo, Themed, and Focus Presentations Unfold at the Santa Monica Airport

A parade of solo and themed exhibitions allow for a closer look at international luminaries as well as visionary Los Angeles-based artists. Regen Projects brings the forward-thinking and experiential creations of Doug Aitken, Kevin Beasley, Liz Larner, and many more, while Johyun Gallery unveils a dual exhibition between Lee Bae and Kishio Suga centering stunningly on metamorphosis and the ephemeral. 

Within the vivacious Focus platform, fresh contemporary artists are placed front and center. Curated by Essence Harden for the momentous second year in a row, 12 emerging galleries offer welcoming solo shows. Sow & Tailor Gallery, Superposition Gallery, Tyler Park Presents, Dominique Gallery, and Ochi, just to name a few, will beckon visitors with transformational and cutting-edge presentations. 

Supporting the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund Alongside Artist and Institutional Support

Victoria Miro will be helping to raise funds for the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund at its Frieze Los Angeles booth, and generously donating works to be sold in support of the vital fund. 

The Frieze Arts Alliance recently commenced in order to aid and bolster the city’s creative communities, uniting illustrious spaces such as The Baltimore Museum of Art, Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, Guggenheim New York, Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, and many more. 

Embark on Coco Fusco’s Only in Darkness and More Community Endeavors

Across widespread Los Angeles, interdisciplinary artist Coco Fusco partners with Mendes Wood DM and Orange Barrel Media on Only in Darkness, a riveting investigation into themes of race, gender, and colonialism. Soaring public billboards and digital screens will debut compelling words by the artist, offering a city-wide meditation on Mother Earth and ourselves. 

Additional, enveloping community engagement continues with pioneering organizations such as Art Production Fund. Within the extensive Santa Monica Airport campus, the highly-esteemed and imaginative platform will launch site-specific creations by visionaries including Lita Albuquerque, Jackie Amézquita, ClaireChambless, Joel Gaitan, Madeline Hollander, Greg Ito, Ozzie Juarez and Dominique Moody.

The Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award, in collaboration with Ghetto Film School and FIFTH SEASON, will bestow its momentous prize to one of its skillful fellows: Guinevere Alcaraz, Ja’Lisa Arnold, Austin Chen, Christopher Guerrero, Sophia Lafaurie-Munoz, and Nicole Mairose Dizon

Further, Maison Ruinart evolves its transcendent Conversation with Nature series beside Los Angeles-based artist Sam Falls in an ode to the magnificent environment. The inspirational brand and artist also work this year with the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund, dedicating time, space, and fundraising to artists and art workers in need.
