Tonight, Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) Director Franklin Sirmans hosts artists Futura and Lee Quiñones in a virtual conversation as part of PAMM’s Scholl Lecture Series. Presented with support from No More Rulers, the talk is in celebration of Futura’s new book, Futura-isms,and can be accessed for free by registering online.
Longtime friends and fellow icons in graffiti art, Quiñones and Futura will discuss with Sirmans their experiences growing up during the unique moment that was New York in the 1980s, along with the city’s present art scene and other topics surrounding their friendship, artistic process, and studio practices.
Available for purchase online, Futura-isms—composed of words by the artist collected from 40 years of interviews and discussions—is presented by Princeton University Press and art empowerment platform No More Rulers. Immediately following the talk, Futura will also release a special print (limited to 100 numbered editions) available exclusively through PAMM, which features a quote from the publication in the artist’s unmistakable style.
