Gallery Weekend L.A. Opens with Over 70 Participating Spaces

Gallery Association Los Angeles debuts the inaugural edition of Gallery Weekend L.A. from July 28 to August 1. Exhibitions, talks, and performances will take place across the city with some of Los Angeles’ top galleries, art spaces, and institutions. Visitors can navigate using a new interactive digital map that highlights all participating locations and programming, with over 70 spaces participating.

Exhibition highlights include Bel Ami presenting works by Joel Dean, a dual solo exhibitions by Mariah Garnett and Elle Pérez at Commonwealth and Council, the three-artist exhibition “Nuestrxs Putas” at Human Resources, Nonaka-Hill with an expansive group exhibition “Natsuyasumi: In the Beginning Was Love,” a solo display by Constantin Nitsche at O-Town House and many others.

Programming highlights include a conversation between artists Anne Lindberg and Aili Schmeltz at The Landing on July 30 at 4pm, Various Small Fires and Sean Raspet hosting an opening reception and plant sale on July 31 from 10am to 1pm, a conversation between curators Mika Yoshitake and Kris Kuramitsu of “Borders and Identity” on July 31 at 2pm, and Regen Projects and Phaidon Press will host a book release event for Catherine Opie at the artist’s studio on July 31 at 5pm.
