Artist Hebru Brantley opened up his studio to a select group in Chicago last month on May 5. The luxury Swiss watch brand Hublot partnered with Lake Forest Sportscars and fine watch retailer Geneva Seal to host an exclusive visit at Brantley’s studio. Guests were introduced to his creative process and the adventures of the signature youthful characters (like Fly Boy and Lil’ Mama) in painting and in sculpture that Brantley employs in his work in order to dive deeper into tough subjects.
Hublot-inspired hors d’oeuvres and cocktails—the Classic Fusion, the Big Bang, and the All Black—were on offer during the visit, along with a 360° display of the iconic Ferrari California T. (Hublot serves as both the “Official Timekeeper” and “Official Watch” of Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari brand globally.)
The intimate studio visit in Chicago is part of an ongoing program for Hublot entitled “Art of Fusion,” which brings together of art, design, and luxury. In addition to Brantley, Hublot has collaborated with world-renowned artists, architects, and innovators including Oscar Niemeyer, Maestro Carlos Cruz-Diez, Maxime Büchi, Romero Britto, and Lang Lang. The combination of special timepieces and colorful contemporary art inspired a rare Chicago evening, making time stand still for a few vivid hours.
