Late last week, Jen Stark dropped her debut NFT, Multiverse on Foundation app. The hypnotizing, undulating collage of overlapping shapes moves from grayscale to color to black-and-white—all set to ambient music.
In just over 24 hours it sold for 150 ETH to 3FMusic, breaking records and making Stark the first female artist to enter Foundation app’s top 10 selling creators. In a digital art market overwhelmingly dominated by male artists, this is huge news.
Multiverse is a 1/1 NFT Stark created in collaboration with David Lewandowski, with sound design by Jamie Vance. Described Stark, “This unique genesis work features a psychedelic menagerie of multi-layered shapes blooming into a kaleidoscopic garden. Multiverse embodies nature’s energy pulsing throughout the universe while mimicking designs found in the spiritual world.”
The Los Angeles-based artist is known for her optically stimulating work full of vibrant colors and shapes. Stark explores visual systems in relation to patterns found in nature like fractals, mimetic topographies, and sacred geometries. Her multi-disciplinary practice encompasses a range of work, including 3D wall pieces, sculptures, public murals, and animated films.
