On July 22—23, Heritage Auctions will present a major sale of urban art in Chicago. Including works by prominent street and urban artists like Banksy, Vhils, Ben Eine, and Kurt B, the feature of the auction will be KAWS’ major work, Companion — Bus Stop.
One of the artist’s most sought after creations, the 2001 work is known for being one of the earliest iterations of KAWS’ Companion character. In the days leading up to the auction, Companion — Bus Stop will be on view at the auction house’s booth at ComplexCon Chicago from July 20—21, where it will be presented in an original format full-scale bus stop.
Other works you can expect to find up for bidding include pieces like Banksy’s No Ball Games and Rude Copper (a spray paint and stencil depiction of an angry policeman); part of Chanel’s collaboration with Medicom, Coco Chanel 1000%; Matt Gondek’s (quirky and cute, but creepy) Simpsons Nuclear Family 4ft Statue, portraying the cartoon family as skeletons; and Eine’s Adventure.
