In celebration of the living world and the supreme power of motherhood, Madonna and visual artist Beeple reveal the fruits of their year-long collaboration in “Mother of Creation.” The visionary NFT triptych, made with infrastructure support by Moonpay, brings to life, both metaphorically and literally, the nature of birth in our contemporary world. The works drop exclusively on the pioneering NFT platform SuperRare today, and all proceeds from the sale benefit three nonprofits: The Voices of Children Foundation, The City of Joy Foundation, and Black Mama’s Bail Out.
Madonna, multidisciplinary artist and mother of six, has been using her voice and platform to advocate for crucial issues affecting women and children, and the historically marginalized, for over four decades. “When Mike and I decided to collaborate on this project a year ago, I was excited to have the opportunity to share my vision of the world as a mother and an artist with Mike’s own unique point of view,” she said. “It’s been an amazing journey building this together from an intellectual idea to an emotional story, giving birth to art. I wanted to investigate the concept of creation, not only the way a child enters the world through a woman’s vagina, but also the way an artist gives birth to creativity. Most importantly we wanted to use this opportunity to benefit mothers and children who are most in need right now.”

The “Mother of Creation” artwork series includes Mother of Nature, the birth of a blossoming tree in an austere, laboratory site, with text by Madonna; Mother of Evolution, the metamorphosis of a butterfly in a post-apocalyptic scene, featuring lyrics from Madonna’s Justify My Love and original music by Igor Bardykin; and Mother of Technology, illustrating the light and darkness of technology in a lush forest, featuring the poetry of Rumi. The artworks were developed by way of a 3D scan of Madonna, with sound design by Sasha Kasiuha.In a resounding message of hope and care, the three nonprofits were chosen by Madonna and Beeple to fight for mothers around the world. The Voices of Children Foundation has helped women and children affected by the war in Ukraine since 2015 with psychological and urgent care. The City of Joy is a transformational leadership community for women survivors of severe violence, located in Bukavu, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Black Mama’s Bail Out began in 2017 with a mass bail-out of black mamas and caregivers—women, femmes, and gender-nonconforming—who are disproportionately incarcerated.
