This week in Mexico City, the thrilling 11th edition of Material Art Fair will radiate throughout the halls of Expo Reforma, on view February 6-9. Embracing 72 exhibitors hailing from 20 countries, the contemporary art spectacle illuminates more Latin American spaces and creatives than ever before.
Situated ideally in the dynamic Juárez neighborhood, the fair’s Opening Night event on February 6 will usher in an era of pioneering, courageous voices and programs in the global art landscape. Visitors can look forward to special presentations from Ceramica Suro (Guadalajara, Mexico); School of Art and Design at the Roberto Garza; Sada Center, UDEM (Monterrey, Mexico); and Whitechapel Gallery (London, United Kingdom).

Interlacing the rich contemporary art scene of Latin America and the world’s most forward-thinking creatives, a riveting presentation unfolds over two sweeping floors.
First Time Exhibitors and Art Week Programming Highlights in Mexico City

Visitors will experience an immersive and thought-provoking show with 25 first time exhibitors such as Albarrán Bourdais (Madrid), Galería Sendros (Buenos Aires), and Espacio Continuo (Bogota). International spaces also bring bountiful reflections on the region, including Hannah Hoffman (Los Angeles) with Venezuelan artist Luz Carabaño, David Peter Francis (New York) alongside Mexican artist Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez, as well as Povos (Chicago) with Puerto Rican artist Isabella Mellado.
Feria Material’s mesmeric Art Week programming will delight and transform. On February 6, within the Banregio Lounge, the new Olivia Foundation Prize will generously commission the fresh work of an artist presenting at the fair. Focusing on women and their explorations in abstract art, The Olivia Foundation’s Artist Spotlight plays out as a momentous exhibition series of shows and collaborative presentations.
In addition, the “IMMATERIAL Performance Program, Vol. 8,” skillfully curated by Michelangelo Miccolis, raises the curtain on Body Loss by groundbreaking Australian artist Angela Goh. Taking place at Museo Experimental el Eco on the evening of February 7, nuanced performer Gemma Sattler fuses lush choreography, sound, and conceptual elements for an experiential study of loss, metamorphosis, and the imagination.
