As part of this year’s Milan Design Week festivities, the ever-luxe Moncler took over Milano Centrale Railway Station—transforming it into one of the world’s largest public art galleries. Curated by Jefferson Hack, “An Invitation to Dream” offered viewers an insight into the minds of the new-guard artistic zeitgeist. Food artist Laila Gohar, playwright Jeremy O. Harris, singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama, contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, British chef Ruth Rogers, and Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini are among the cultural tastemakers whose tremendously varied work was on display.
Turning Milano Centrale Into a Dreamscape with Lithographs and Billboards
As part of Hack’s curatorial practice of hijacking public spaces, all of the billboards within the train station were rewired to create a Dreamscape. Large-scale text pieces and slow-motion portraits played constantly, allowing the artists’ work to move fluidly throughout the venue. “An Invitation to Dream” grounded itself with a series of hand-printed lithographs by Jack Davison, who also filmed and photographed the exhibition at large.
A Star-Studded Private Dinner Celebrating Moncler
To celebrate the commencement of the exhibition, Ruffini and Moncler hosted a private dinner in none other than Milano Centrale. The guest of honor was JR, the French photographer and street artist who recently completed the artwork “La Nascita” at the iconic venue. Other guests included Brent Faiyaz, Zoe Saldana, Swiss Beatz, Paolo Sorrentino, and Margherita Missoni.
“The curated community represents some of the finest creative visionaries across culture who dare to dream for us,” Hack remarked of the exhibition. “They are today’s reality-shapers and they were invited to participate as their work carries with it new hopes and possibilities. It’s the deeply transformative aspects in their work and practice that makes them essential artists of our time and essential for us to bring into this project.”
