Nail Art by CLAWD Dazzles the Red Carpet
Earlier this month in Los Angeles, we saw the LACMA Art + Film Gala hosting its 12th edition. On the red carpet that evening, noteworthy guests including A$AP Rocky, Billie Eilish, Jessica Chastain, Keanu Reaves, and Ke Huy Quan sported the work of the anonymous artist CLAWD, whose medium of choice may come as a surprise. Noticeable only within a certain distance, the finishing touch on each of the stars’ looks was a hand full of talon-length nails, customized with intricate patterns and details.

Forging the Way for Nail Artists
The mission of the anonymous creator CLAWD exists with the intent of forging the way for nail industry professionals, highlighting a certain level of artistry and creativity that often goes overlooked in areas of beauty. For the occasion of the fundraising affair at LACMA, the artist conceived designs like a pointy claw topped with three-dimensional purple hearts, worn by Chastain, a set of black nails with ornaments that matched Eilish’s head-to-toe Gucci ensemble, and a playful set worn by A$AP Rocky that included uniquely sculpted shapes and inlays of faux gemstones.

CLAWD’s Art was a Highlight Among Many
Taking place each year to raise funds for LACMA’s film programming, the fashion-forward evening was co-chaired by the museum’s trustee Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio alongside Gala Host Committee Chair and Gucci Creative Director Sabato De Sarno. This year’s gala honored artist Judy Bacca and filmmaker David Fincher, raising over $5 million for its cause.
