On November 23 in New York, The Hotel Chelsea and leading-edge, artist-driven brand Platform will debut the inaugural Chelsea Art Fair within the vivacious and storied hotel. A must-see, one-day presentation will embrace acclaimed and pioneering art galleries 56 Henry (New York), CASTLE (Los Angeles), Lomex (New York), Matthew Brown (Los Angeles and New York), and Ramiken (New York).
The Hotel Chelsea’s Historic Relationship with the Art Community Continues to Thrive
”Hotel Chelsea, from its opening in 1884, has been an important beacon for the arts and artists,” said the hotel’s Co-Owner, Sean MacPherson. “Notable former artist residents include Alberto Giacometti, Diego Rivera, Mark Rothko, William de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Jasper Johns, David Hockney, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Elizabeth Peyton, just to name a few.
“We’re thrilled to continue its historic relationship with the arts, partnering with Platform and these five exciting galleries to present new work by great contemporary artists.”

The Chelsea Art Fair is Free to the Public
“Given the Hotel Chelsea’s iconic place in New York art history, we’re grateful to work with Sean and his partners on this creative, fun new way of spotlighting our talented partner galleries and artists,” said Platform’s COO Richard Thayer.
In authentic New York style, the Chelsea Art Fair welcomes the public with free-of-charge access, beckoning locals and international visitors into a lush, celebratory realm of art, culture, and connection.

The journey begins with a seamless transition from the buzzing city street to the historic hotel’s shimmering Lobby Bar—a refreshing and inspiring day-to-night meeting point. From there, five experiential gallery booths within the iconic locale will ebb and flow from the main event space to The Bard Room, offering a closer look at artworks by some of the most daring and skillful creatives of our time.
Highlights include the visceral sculptures of Patricia Ayres with Matthew Brown gallery. These compelling, abstract creations fuse diverse materials such as anointing oil, padding, and wood. With the artist’s deft hand, complex works wielding grand and elusive power and fragility unfold.
Further, 56 Henry brings the surreal, prismatic visions of Richard Tinkler, in addition to Ohad Meromi’s striking and expressive sculptures.
