Paris+ par Art Basel Debuts This Week

Erica Silverman

17 October 2022

The new modern and contemporary art fair Paris+ par Art Basel debuts in the historic heart of Paris at the Grand Palais Éphémère through October 23. Art Basel and MCH Group, partnered with Audemars Piguet, composed the leading event to spotlight the burgeoning creative industries of art, fashion, design, and music in the epicenter of Paris. Director Clément Delépine (former Co-Director of Paris Internationale) alongside General Manager Virginie Aubert and Deputy Director Maxime Hourdequin, have chosen 156 galleries from 30 countries to exhibit at the immersive fair. Selected international participants include Galerie Anne Barrault, Christian berst art brut, Magnin-A, Salle Principale, and We Do Not Work Alone from Paris; Efremidis and Heidi from Berlin; LC Queisser from Tbilisi; Seventeen from London; Chris Sharp Gallery from Los Angeles; and Tim van Laere Gallery from Antwerp. Premier artist exhibitions showing alongside the fair include “Gérard Garouste” and “Patti Smith” at Centre Pompidou Paris, “Mickaelene Thomas” at Musée de l’Orangerie, and “Humpty \ Dumpty” at Palais de Tokyo. Collaborations with city-wide cultural institutions, and a program of dynamic conversations curated by Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teyssou, will bring compelling artists and their singular creations to the public sphere.

“The galleries selected for our debut in Paris embody Art Basel’s long-standing tradition of juxtaposing high-quality historical work with avant-garde material,” explained Marc Spiegler, Global Director of Art Basel. “Equally important to us, the galleries that make today’s Paris so dynamic are present in large numbers, across many market sectors, giving this show a singularly Parisian personality.”
