Sock Hop: A Night with Rebuild Foundation and Friends

No contributor

On Friday, September 15, Rebuild Foundation held its annual gala, “Sock Hop: A Night with Rebuild Foundation and Friends.” Founder and artist Theaster Gates welcomed members, local artists, and the public to celebrate art, culture, and music at the St. Lawrence School, currently being rebuilt.

The community-centered event did not lose sight of Rebuild’s primary goal: to build up Chicago’s South Side. While honoring the major accomplishments of the past year and enjoying performances by renowned artists, Rebuild also used the gala to raise funds to subsidize local educational programs. Rebuild strives to boost the community by offering free arts programming, creating new opportunities for residents of its neighborhood, and developing affordable real estate.
