On February 6 in Mexico City, the soaring 12th edition of Salon Acme will commence at Public Projects in Juarez, on view through February 9. The trailblazing art platform from creative visionaries Base Proyectos and Archipiélago stays true to its artist led mission, offering six immersive realms at this year’s fair: Open Call, Bodega, Guest State, Projects, Patio, and Sala. The beloved contemporary art presentation received a momentous 1,800 applications for its 12th iteration, and, with meticulous curation, 79 magnetic creatives will debut.
A must-see highlight of elegant Salon Acme No.12 is the Invited State exhibition. Curated by Rafael Toriz, the striking city of Veracruz will be deftly illuminated through “Contours of the Hallucinatory Boat.” Within the Patio category, the masterful Julieta Gil will offer the thought-provoking show “Milflores,” while Bodega unveils magnetic works by 21 dynamic artists with the presentation “”From Bed to Living Room.” A comprehensive program will run concurrently to the fair, with live performances, gastronomical experiences, and musical festivities in store for all ages. A range of valued international art institutions will be represented at Salon Acme No.12, including Centre Pompidou, Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, Kai Art Center of Estonia, Tanoto Foundation of Singapore, and Centre for Postnatural Studies in Madrid.
Patio and Invited State: Veracruz Immerse Visitors at Salon Acme No.12

Artist Julieta Gil, born in Mexico City, lights up the Patio realm with “Miliflores,” a dazzling and sensorial new installation. Visitors will embark upon a digital yet sculptural voyage through urban vegetation, offering a meditation on anti monuments where the natural environment may be allowed to flourish.
The riveting Invited State exhibition unites diverse artists Libertad Alcántara, Per Anderson, Alejandra R. Bolaños, Brenda Castillo, Sebastián Fund, Nicolás Guzmán, Goro Kakei, Héctor Adolfo Quintanar, Florencia Rothschild, Rodolfo Salmerón, Fernando Santiago, Rodolfo Sousa, and Tania Ximena. With the poetic title “Contours of the Hallucinatory Boat,” the multi-faceted show plays out like a dance between the ebb and flow of a coffee plantation and the vitality of artists living and creating in Veracruz. This lush presentation will include gastronomic guest Luis “Güero” Palmeros, as well as a lively performance by Alejandra Bolaños and music by Los Cojolites on Saturday, February 8.
The Inaugural Salon Award and The International Visitors Program (IVP) Unfold in Mexico City

During the 12th edition of the fair, the first Salon Award will debut from The Biennial of the Americas alongside RedLine Contemporary Art Center. The lucky winner will receive a two to four-week residency in Colorado to explore and expand their unique creative vision.
Back for the second year, the International Visitors Program (IVP), featuring a glowing partnership between Material Art Fair and Salon Acme, is spearheaded and curated by Anaïs Lepage. The groundbreaking, not-for-profit endeavor brings together seven curators from around the globe to ideate and bond with cultural figureheads of the Mexican art landscape.
Held at the distinguished Tamayo Museum on Saturday, February 8, this public Conversation program titled “Affective Constellations” presents four captivating roundtables: The Economy of Friendships; Transgenerational Feminist and Queer Affinities; Creating with the “More-than-Human”: Spirituality, Ancestralism, and Post-Nature; and Institutions as Communities. Prominent curators such as Xiaoyu Weng (Tanoto Foundation, Singapore), Devrim Bayar (Kanal–Centre Pompidou, Brussels), and Karin Laansoo (Kai Art Center, Tallinn), will join cultural leaders like Jo Ying Peng, Fabrice Hyber, Miguel A. López, and Naomi Rincón Gallardo in highly relevant and critical dialogues.
