On April 22, Mike Dean’s new album 4:22 debuts alongside a special NFT collaboration with Shepard Fairey “OBEY 4:22.” The open edition of NFTS from the artist and producer was created with blockchain technology company, Origin Protocol.
On sale April 23 at 12am EST, the series features three audiovisual editions of the “Cryptosonic” digital collectibles by Dean. They were inspired by the pair’s “being home during COVID” project, celebrating music and art’s ability to transport and connect us all.
“I am very honored to work with Mike Dean on such a unique and meaningful collaboration, both from a musical and visual standpoint,” said Fairey. “Art and music can both serve as forms of escapism to take you somewhere else. I hope this collection can provide escape and heighten consciousness.”
Fairey and Dean have been fans of each other’s creative output for years, and so the collaboration was a natural evolution of their friendship. “4:22 brings an appreciation for our planet through music and art,” said Dean. “This project serves as a guide through the mysteries and complexities of our Earth within otherworldly sounds to connect people with the beauty of nature and themselves. Working with Shepard Fairey and Origin allowed us to reconstruct our art into an NFT for fans to collect.”
The album and NFT launch will be followed by an auction of additional digital art on May 27.
