In celebration of its 150th academic year, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is hosting a slew of events and exhibitions this month. One in particular, “Civilization and Its Disconnects: SAIC Alumni Exhibition, Selections from 1985-2015,” is highly anticipated. Curated by faculty members Scott and Tyson Reeder, this exhibition will feature alumni from the past three decades that have received considerable recognition for their personal achievements outside of Chicago. This show is intended to shed light on a new group of artists that, while they may share a regional aesthetic, have a unique and successful approach to their craft. The alumni-driven exhibition celebrates the changed conversation within each artist’s medium and recognizes his or her achievements.
“Civilization and Its Disconnects: SAIC Alumni Exhibition” is on view at SAIC until October 24.
