THURSDAY
James Turrell: “Roden Crater and Autonomous Structures” at Pace Gallery
March 15 – April 20, 2013
Opening: March 14, 6-8PM
32 East 57th Street
This exhibition will focus on the Roden Crater, an extinct volcano in the Painted Desert of Northern Arizona that Turrell has been transforming into a monumental work of art since the 1970s. One of the most ambitious projects ever envisioned by an artist, Turrell’s masterwork will convert the inner cone of the 400,000-year-old crater into a massive naked-eye observatory, designed specifically for viewing and experiencing skylight, solar, and celestial phenomena.
FRIDAY
Ajemian & Bismuth at Invisible-Exports
March 15 – April 21
Opening: March 15, 6–8PM
14A Orchard Street
The exhibition is comprised of performance and conversation directives where the artists present a kind of suffused, semi-secret record of discussions and conversations about art making.
SATURDAY
Rochelle Feinstein at On Stellar Rays and Higher Pictures
March 17 – April 28
Opening: March 16, 8-10PM
980 Madison Avenue
The exhibition brings together two bodies of work from 2000-05 and 2012. Both actively deploy words, declarations and cliché expressions in service of making images.
