Video: Rashaad Newsome
Shade Compositions at SFMOMA

This past October, artist Rashaad Newsome presented his most recent incarnation of Shade Compositions (2012) at SFMOMA. The performance explores the body language and voice of certain women of color, and how seemingly sassy street expressions extend across the globe as an open vernacular. The SFMOMA iteration included San Francisco based artists and drag performers in wardrobes designed by Alexander Wang.
