We Grow in Circles: Orly Anan’s Performance as Living Sculpture

In London, artist Orly Anan presented We Grow in Circles, a performance commissioned by lov.foundation in collaboration with Feeria. Through movement, costume, and ritual, Anan transformed the body into living sculpture—an homage to transformation and cyclical creation.

On October 13, 2025 Colombian-Israeli artist Orly Anan debuted We Grow in Circles, at The Roof Gardens in London, a performance commissioned by lov.foundation in collaboration with Feeria.

The work brought together ritual, symbolism, and choreography into a six-act ceremony exploring transformation through a feminine lens.

lov.foundation is a nonprofit cultural platform dedicated to peaceful coexistence and social transformation through art and storytelling. Its projects bridge ritual and contemporary practice, exploring art as a tool for empathy and collective awareness.

Offering the Language of Dreams, Poetry, and Ancient Symbols

“At lov.foundation, we speak not only to emotions but to the unconscious mind, using the language of dreams, poetry, and ancient symbols,” shared Alexandra Seaman, founder of lov.foundation. “Our partnership with Feeria felt natural. The historical language of fans, where movement and symbols replace speech, became an anchor for the audience, a way to return to the emotional state awakened during the performance.”

Feeria, a platform dedicated to contemporary fan and kimono culture, supports artists who blur the boundaries between fashion, ritual, and performance. Through collaborations, the brand explores how objects of adornment can become vessels of expression.

Inspired by Japanese Aesthetics and Kabbalistic Letter Constellations

“We Grow in Circles,” a lov.foundation and Feeria commission with original costumes by Orly Anan.

We Grow in Circles unfolds in six acts, each embodying one of lov.foundation’s guiding symbols: Pearl, Lunar White, Spiral, Turquoise, Ladder, and Tree of Life. Each performer wore sculptural costumes and headdresses designed for the piece, their fluid forms inspired by Japanese aesthetics. The performance also incorporated Kabbalistic letter constellations, sacred codes woven into the space to amplify intention and transformation.

The Pearl begins in stillness, moving with Butoh-like reverence, spiraling upward as if exhaling light. The Ladder answers with grounded rhythm, feet striking the earth in cycles of ascent and surrender. The Tree of Life plants invisible seeds, spine unfurling from soil to sky. Turquoise flows like water, arms rippling as gestures pass between performers. Under Lunar White, movements soften into offering, imaginary fruits lifted toward an unseen moon. The Spiral closes the cycle, bodies spinning inward and outward until dissolving into stillness.

Invoking Swiss Artist Heidi Bucher

Echoing the legacy of Swiss artist Heidi Bucher, whose Bodyshells fused dance, costume, and sculpture, Anan’s work transforms the body into a ceremonial conduit, where movement becomes both architecture and ritual.

To commemorate the performance, Feeria created a limited-edition series of hand-held fans featuring original artwork inspired by We Grow in Circles, gifted to guests as lasting keepsakes.

Rejoicing in the Power of Art to Unite and Heal

“Both Feeria and lov.foundation celebrate creation as a form of connection, where art becomes a language of consciousness,” said Nataliya Kotlyarova, founder of Feeria. “The fan felt like the perfect vessel for that dialogue.”

We Grow in Circles stood as both a personal and collective invocation, a call to embrace the nonlinear, the intuitive, and the deep feminine intelligence that holds, heals, and connects.

Learn More about Feeria

Feeria takes its name from the French féerie, itself born of fée—fairy, enchantress, bringer of light. In the 18th and 19th centuries, féerie defined a form of theatre devoted to wonder: performances where illusion met invention, and light, music, dance, and mechanical marvels intertwined to tell stories of transformation. The stage shimmered with celestial beings, flying draperies, and shifting worlds—a living dream that made audiences believe in the invisible. Yet féerie was more than spectacle; it carried a moral, a revelation veiled in beauty. It taught that behind every miracle of light lies an act of human imagination, reminding us that enchantment is not escape but recognition—seeing the world illuminated from within.Feeria
