Valextra—known for its sleek designs, fine Italian materials, and reputability within the global accessories world—has been on a celebration spree. Earlier this year, the brand opened a new store in China at Plaza 66 in Shanghai, and one in Japan at Roppongi Midtown in Tokyo, too. Shortly after, the Valextra re-opened its location on Madison Avenue after a month-long renovation. All three stores showcase a new spin on its legendary past, featuring fun and fresh new colors and materials, such as vibrant fabric walls by Kvadrat and ceppo di grè stone—a material present in traditional Milanese architecture.
Recently, for the spring/summer 2017 collection, Valextra debuted an all-new bag, the Superbag, with design inspiration gained from Ettore Sottsass’ and Alighiero Boetti’s travels and works of art and design, and specifically, Sottsass’ Superbox.
Last night at the Valextra boutique on Madison Avenue saw a New York celebration with Whitewall at a cocktail event. Among special guests like Chloe Wise, Kiera Chaplin, Nausheen Shah, Alex Mustonen, and Daniel Arsham from Snarkitecture, JJ Martin from Wallpaper*, Michael Xufu Huang from M WOODS Museum, attendees got a closer look at the new space, and the new bag, too. For over an hour, guests perused the new space, taking in its lively details and bright atmosphere.
Afterward, guests were transported to the Carpenters Workshop Gallery for a drink in the space’s first floor before moving to the second floor for a seated dinner. Surrounded by art, design, and inspiration, the night provided guests with an unforgettable experience in the company of some of today’s greatest creators.
