The 23rd edition of miart opens today, and is on view through April 15. The fair includes 186 participating galleries from 19 countries. A total of 62 leading galleries are showing for the first time, including Andersen’s Contemporary, Thomas Dane Gallery, Dvir Gallery, Gagosian, Kalfayan Galleries, Peter Kilchmann, Almine Rech, Rodeo, and Amanda Wilkinson. Among the notable returning galleries are A Gentil Carioca, Clearing, Galleria Continua, Massimo De Carlo, Kaufmann Repetto, Andrew Kreps Gallery, Gladstone Gallery, and Galerie Jocelyn Wolff.
The fair is divided into six sections: Established; Emergent, featuring 20 emerging galleries whose programming focuses on the most recent generation of artists; Generations, including 16 galleries presenting a dialogue between works by two artists from different generations; Decades, a section with solo presentations that span the 20th century; On Demand, devoted to context-based art; and Object, showcasing experimental design, decorative arts, and limited editions.
