Joan Miró: Beyond Painting
Fondation Maeght
Now—November 17
Fondation Maeght is showing “Beyond Painting,” an exhibition of artist Joan Miró’s works, created in celebration of the man who played a large role in the creation of the foundation. Curated by Rosa Maria Malet (former director of Fundació Joan Miró), the show allows visitors a chance to discover Miró’s graphic work, which was often overshadowed by his paintings. Seen featured among over 200 works are a number of unseen gouaches, along with a variety of the artist’s proofs, prints, posters, printing plates, and other materials that shed light to the lesser known side of Miró’s talent.
Jean-Michel Folon: Photos Graphiques
Linda and Guy Pieters Foundation
Now—September 21
At home in a renovated private mansion at Place des Lices, the Linda and Guy Pieters Foundation is presenting an exhibition of Belgian illustrator, painter, and sculpture, Jean-Michel Folon. Entitled “Photos Graphiques,” the show focuses on Folon’s sculpted bronze works, including pieces like La Fontaine aux Oiseaux and Le Secret—a sculpted figure of a man whose body has been split into halves.
