Now on view at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art in Las Vegas is a landmark exhibition of Yayoi Kusama. The artist’s installations Narcissus Garden and Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity will remain open to the public through April 28, 2019.
One of Kusama’s most celebrated works, Narcissus Garden is an enamoring piece that features 750 mirrored globes in the form of a lake, which distorts the images of reality that are reflected on its surface. Created over 50 years ago, the work has since been transported and installed in settings worldwide.
The second work, Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity, is one of Kusama’s famed infinity rooms, which the she began creating to represent her longtime obsession with the dissolution of the self into the infinite. Visitors step into a closed off room, where they will find themselves enveloped in an endless environment of shimmering lights, created by a completely mirrored space that reflects everything within its confines.
The special installations coincide with a current exhibition of Japanese art throughout MGM Resorts.
