The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) just announced the upcoming release of Together, a short film as the center of its Together fundraising campaign. Commissioned by the foundation and created by a group of artists, the film work will debut on January 25, launching alongside an art sale and a week of programming for the benefit of artists across the country.
The main event of the auction, Together, a short film features a total of 1,500 individual digital frames created around a narrative of hope, individuality, and community. Made with the help of creative studio Pysop and animation experts Igor + Valentine, the film (written by Brandon Mugar and Reuben Hower) will see each frame sold as a unique work of art. Featuring contributions from prominent artists like Zoë Buckman, Shepard Fairey, KAWS, and José Parlá, as well as YoungArts alumni artists like Demetri Burke, Dara Girel-Mats, Destine Moore, and Glenn Espinosa, those who purchase the works will receive them in the form of a one-of-a-kind print.
“As a YoungArts Guest Artist and mentor, I’ve witnessed the powerful ways the organization nurtures artists throughout their careers,” said José Parlá. “Together demonstrates the collaborative spirit that is central to YoungArts and is so necessary in propelling art and artists forward every day, and especially during these challenging times.” Organized by Campaign Chairs Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm, Jay Franke and David Herro, and Michi and Charles Jigarjian, the film debut and auction will be accompanied by six days of free, public programming, including virtual events like readings, performances, an exhibition, and a digital anthology and catalogue.
