Maria-Theresia Pongracz (also known simply as MT) was born into a family of artists and art dealers in Vienna, Austria. She spent most of her twenties in New York City where she studied Visual Studies at the New School and interned in the fashion editorial department at Vogue, as well as Gagosian Gallery. MT later worked at Marianne Boesky Gallery before moving back to Europe to organise a large exhibition with Yoko Ono at a private museum in Vienna. For the last three years, MT has been based in London where she helped build up a young contemporary art gallery, was an Assistant Director at Marlborough Contemporary, and is now working as a private advisor and freelance journalist. Besides art, she loves dancing, travelling, music, and horse-back riding.
