Scott Indrisek is executive editor of Modern Painters. His writing has previously appeared in The Believer, the Village Voice, Anthem, and various other publications. Indrisek’s own amateur painting practice thrives on willful ignorance and an accidental mishandling of materials. He lives in Brooklyn, where he also edits the Internet’s most acclaimed kitten-critical website, Sh*t My Cats Read. Recently, he attempted to get a tattoo of Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square (1915), though the German tattoo artist rendered it as more of a lumpy rectangle than a square. Indrisek says one of these years he might actually try to write a novel.
