BIOGRAPHY
Jordan Tannahill is a playwright, novelist, and director. His writing has been translated into twelve languages, and honoured with a number of prizes including two Governor General’s Literary Awards. His plays and performance texts have been presented at venues including London’s Young Vic Theatre, the Festival d’Avignon, Berlin’s Deutsches Theater, Vienna’s Volkstheater, and on the West End. His debut novel, Liminal, was honoured with France’s 2021 Prix des Jeunes Libraires. His second novel, The Listeners, was shortlisted for the 2021 Giller Prize, and is being adapted into a limited series for the BBC by Janicza Bravo. His virtual reality performance Draw Me Close, produced by the National Theatre (UK) and the National Film Board of Canada, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2017. From 2012 - 2016, in collaboration with William Ellis, Jordan ran the alternative art space Videofag out of their home in Toronto’s Kensington Market neighbourhood, which became a hub for queer counterculture in the city. In 2019, CBC Arts named Jordan as one of sixty-nine LGBTQ Canadians who has shaped the country's history.
