At the 52nd edition of Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April, W Hotels Worldwide and Design Miami/ Basel announced that Seung-Yong Song (Korea), Jon Stam (Canada) and Bethan Laura Wood (United Kingdom) were the winners of the annual W Hotels Designers of the Future Award.
In partnership with Design Miami/ Basel, W Hotels Worldwide presents the award each year to emerging designers who create fresh, modern designs based on their exploration of a specific city’s culture. These designers must be at the forefront of their craft, going above and beyond in terms of both their designs and conceptualizations.

This year’s project is called “Making Connections” and required each winner to assist in the renovations of a W Hotel. Designers sought inspiration in local culture and environment as well as in the current hotel. This year, winners worked in Verbier (Switzerland), Bangkok (Thailand), and Mexico City (Mexico). If missed at the Design Miami/ Basel, the renovations will soon be available for the public to see as permanent installations.
