Live this week is the “Kelly Wearstler: Curiosities” design auction on Paddle8, organized in collaboration with Whitewall. Earlier this week we gave you a sneak peek at her upcoming feature in Whitewall‘s winter 2014 Luxury Issue. Today, we get an insider look at a few key items in the sale. Here are some of our favorite pieces.
Kelly Wearstler pyrite and bronze bauble box
The extraordinary box on offer is a signature piece that appears frequently in Kelly Wearstler environments. Each Wearstler box is handcrafted by artisans in Los Angeles with stones and minerals personally selected by Kelly during her travels. It sometimes takes the designer up to a full year to discover the perfect combination of specimens to adorn one of her boxes.
Fabio Lenci glass and leather chair
An incredibly beautiful and confident sculpted chair. The glass design makes it feel light so the piece is remarkably versatile and is perfect for smaller spaces.
Jean-Paul Gaultier rare puffer jacket
The Jean-Paul Gaultier jacket on offer has a fantastically chic zebra pattern that makes perfect sense as a piece selected by Kelly Wearstler for her auction. The black & white animal print of the jacket could just as easily been used by Kelly as a pattern in one of her interiors.
A Kelly Wearstler dichotomy table
The dichotomy table is a stunning piece that shows Wearstler’s continued interest in surrealist design and figural decor. This visually striking sculptural table is not only beautiful but is rare as it is one of only 25 tables of this type that were made.
The Paddle8 “Kelly Wearstler: Curiosities” sale is live through November 13.
