The Inaugural Edition of Design Miami/ Paris
Coinciding with Paris+ par Art Basel this week, the first-ever iteration of Design Miami/ Paris takes place from October 18–22 at the 18th-century landmark building L’hôtel de Maisons. Highlighting top collectible design galleries from across the city and around the globe, the fair’s Parisian edition debuts under the High Patronage of the French Ministry of Culture, featuring 27 exhibitors with exceptional design presentations of both historic and contemporary focus.
“Paris has always held great significance to Design Miami/. As a capital of collectible design, it is home to many of the celebrated galleries, partners and brands who have been so integral to the scholarship and evolution of this market,” said the CEO of Design Miami/, Jen Roberts. “We are committed to the city’s vibrant and multifaceted creative landscape, and hope that the new Paris fair will continue Design Miami’s ongoing mission to bring together our influential community of designers and gallerists, curators and collectors, in celebration of design culture.”

Expansive Design Explored at Design Miami/ Paris
Design narratives at the fair include booths conceived in direct dialogue with the venue, those celebrating the masters of design history, contemporary works that propose new discourse, and an exploration of materiality, volume, and line. Among these are presentations focused on a central material (like functional-yet-innovative design objects made from wood, displayed by Sarah Myerscough), a single designer, or a specific space or concept—like Ketabi Bourdet Design’s recreation of a dark 1980s smoking room.
A Strong Presence from Parisian Design Spaces
Hailing from Paris, attendees will find presentations like Galerie SCENE OUVERTE’s reimagining of centuries-old materials like marble, ceramic, and tapestry through the work of contemporaries like William Coggin, Hervé Langlais, Anna Pesonen, and Vincent Dubourg; Galerie Kreo presenting the work of Marc Newson, Jaime Hayon, and Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby; historical collectibles from Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Jean Royère with Galerie Patrick Seguin; and Galerie Mitterand presenting one of the most significant 20th-century works at the fair—Lalanne’s Ane Attellé (grand) from 1989. Other Paris-based presenters include names like Galerie Jacques Lacoste, Galerie Desprez-Breheret, Galerie Chastel-Maréchal, and a collaborative presentation between Paulin Paulin Paulin and Mobilier National.

Design Miami/ Paris Represents Global Leaders in Design
From other galleries around the world are exhibitions like Max Lamb’s soft sofa sculptures presented by Salon94 Design; R & Company’s showing of contemporary designers (like Roberto Lugo and Katie Stout) alongside rare and iconic historic work by the likes of Wendell Castle and Joaquim Tenreiro; decorative objects from the U.S., Japan, and Europe on view with the Brussels-based Pierre Marie Giraud; Friedman Benda’s booth encompassing work by Raphael Navot, Samuel Ross, Daniel Arsham, Faye Toogood, Andrea Branzi, and Joris Laarman; and Moderne Gallery showcasing important work by George Nakashima.
