Casa Saint Moritz Molteni&C

The Ultimate Alpine Destination: Molteni&C Brings Designs to St. Moritz

High in the Engadin valley, Molteni&C furnishes a private St. Moritz villa that celebrates seasonal living, slow travel, and contemporary design in dialogue with the Alps.

In St. Moritz, winter is not merely a season—it is a lifestyle. Days unfold around snowfall and sunlight, long walks through pine forests, afternoons indoors with a book and a fire, and evenings that blur the line between inside and out. It is within this rhythm that Molteni&C has furnished a private alpine villa, crafting an environment that feels as attuned to travel and retreat as it does to enduring design. The project, conceived by M2P Associati in collaboration with architect Matteo Tartufoli, reimagines mountain living through a contemporary lens—one that privileges calm, proportion, and seasonal adaptability.

Rather than competing with its dramatic surroundings, the villa settles into the Alpine landscape with restraint. Thick walls, soft curves, and warm materials establish a sense of protection against the elements, while generous openings frame snow-covered peaks and winter light. Inside, Molteni&C’s furnishings anchor the experience with a quiet elegance that feels especially suited to the slow tempo of a winter escape. This is a home designed for arrival—after travel, after cold, after the city—where comfort is immediate but never overstated.

At the heart of the living spaces are Paul sofas by Vincent Van Duysen, whose enveloping proportions invite long conversations, afternoon naps, and evenings spent watching the light fade over the mountains. Their sculptural softness is balanced by Ron Gilad’s 45° coffee tables—objects that feel almost architectural in their transparency and geometry, adding a subtle intellectual edge to the room. Together, they establish an interior language that is warm yet precise, contemporary yet timeless.

Throughout the villa, material choices reinforce this sense of seasonal comfort. Wood floors and muted textiles echo the tones of the surrounding forest, while carefully calibrated lighting creates a gentle glow as daylight shortens. Even circulation spaces feel intentional—moments to slow down, to pause, to transition between the active outdoors and the introspective calm within. It is the kind of interior that encourages staying in just as much as venturing out, a hallmark of well-considered winter design.

Outdoor Living, Even in the Alps

In a destination defined by its landscape, outdoor spaces are as essential as interiors—even in colder months. Here, Molteni&C extends its vision beyond the walls, treating terraces and lounge areas as natural continuations of the home. The Sway sofa and coffee tables by Yabu Pushelberg introduce a relaxed sophistication to the outdoor lounge, while Petalo armchairs by Van Duysen offer a high-backed refuge for moments of stillness, wrapped in blankets and alpine air.

The outdoor dining area, furnished with the Molteni&C Fairmount table and Boboli chairs, reframes open-air conviviality for the mountains—less about summer entertaining, more about après-ski rituals and crisp, clear evenings. Pieces from Elisa Ossino’s outdoor collection, including Pantalica coffee tables and a daybed, further soften the transition between inside and out, proving that seasonal living need not sacrifice comfort or design integrity.

Ultimately, the Molteni&C-filled villa captures the enduring allure of St. Moritz itself: a place where travel becomes ritual, where seasons shape daily life, and where design serves as both backdrop and companion. Molteni&C’s intervention does not seek to redefine alpine living, but to refine it—offering a contemporary retreat that feels perfectly in sync with winter’s quiet pleasures and the timeless draw of the mountains.

To complete the experience, wellness spaces tucked into the lower levels of the villa offer a final layer of seasonal luxury, where spa-like calm meets mountain ritual. Here, architecture, water, and light converge to create a restorative counterpoint to outdoor adventure—affirming the home as not just a destination, but a year-round sanctuary designed for return, reflection, and renewal.
