Last Wednesday, luxury German manufacturer Montblanc unveiled its latest flagship concept boutique in Hamburg. Designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, the store showcases the company’s timepieces, writing instruments, and leather goods in a setting of smooth mix of black, white, and wood, incorporating elements of the company’s history into its design. It joins Montblanc’s growing list of concept stores in locations worldwide, including Taipei, Shanghai, and Singapore.
Thick black curves frame doorways, reminiscent of calligraphy strokes in a nod to the company’s historic fountain pens, while brass, leather, and dark wood allude to the watchmaking and leatherwork Montblanc brandishes. The boutique offers a digital corner to test the company’s latest ScreenWriter models, the Leather Atelier with touchable catalogues of over fifty skins, the Manufacturer Bar with a variety of pens parts to test; and the Collectors Lounge housing limited-editions and customization services. Black lacquered walls and widescreen ink animations perfect the sleek feel, creating an element of movement that breathes life into the space.
