Last Thursday, Swiss watchmaker Breitling opened the doors to its new flagship boutique in Manhattan. On the corner of 57th Street and Madison Avenue, the two-story showroom is the largest of Breitling’s 42 boutiques worldwide, boasting over 4,300 square feet and over 800 models on display, including special “Boutique Editions” of familiar favorites. Hardwood floors and a private bar for customers create a warm retreat from the bustling outdoors, while art by New York artist Kevin Kelly and metal aircraft décor honor Breitling’s reputation as the “official supplier to world aviation.”
The second floor museum showcases relics from Breitling’s history, highlighting the company’s notable innovations in the realm of in-flight chronography, such as the first wristwatch to include an emergency transmitter and the first wristwatch used in space. Two more boutiques are planned to open in New York this year at the Oculus Shopping Center in downtown Manhattan and at the new World Trade Center.
