The Domus Design Collection, commonly known as ddc, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Having begun in Tehran, the design brand now holds three generations from the founder Aghajoon Khalifan. In honor of this milestone, ddc’s New York location is showing an exhibition, “Icons From The Past Meet Icons Of The Future,” consisting of pieces from its collection that represent innovation, on view this June.
Derived from the European dealer’s archive, the exhibition highlights work by Gaudi, Ponti, Gio Ponti, and Mollino, who crafted pieces that became historically significant in the field of design. ddc paired those past accomplishments with the work of future visionaries like Gaetano Pesce, Santiago Calatrava, Karim Rashid, Peter Draenert, and Camila Tariki. The “heirlooms of the future” as Babak Hakakian, ddc partner, describes them, will mold the next 25 years for ddc.
