Poliform commenced the new year by launching its newest line of sleek drawers: the Giò collection. Unveiled during IMM Cologne, the collection, designed by Milan architect Rodolfo Dordoni, draws inspiration from the work of twentieth-century artist Giò Ponti. The set of dressers and bedside tables, while offered in a range of materials, are consistently slick and provocative, teasing the viewer with colored panels buried within dark hexagonal structures.
Ponti, an Italian industrial architect, designed a wide variety of appliances, furniture, and buildings, including the Pirelli Tower in Milan. A common them in his works were angular shapes woven into complex, prominent forms. In its new collection, Poliform mirrors Ponti’s style without compromising its own brand of modern furnishings. The Giò collection will be available in the US starting this spring.
