Prada Outdoor made its debut at the Prada Beverly Hills store last week. Four installations – a picnic on the lawn, games on the sand, the cool shade of the trees, and the gleam of the sun on an alpine lodge – are celebrated in a series of pop-up shops and in-store experiences.
The setup is dedicated to the emotions conveyed in Prada’s Garden, Coast, Mountain and Snow setting, containing a selection of furniture recalling each particular environment.
To connect to the theme of Coast specifically, Prada created an exclusive ready-to-wear collection for men and women. Black Re-nylon detailing transforms gabardine beachwear and terry bathrobes into the height of sophistication. There, oversized volumes stretch drill with macro logos, mini and modern poplin garments with iconic bayadere stripes and white t-shirts are covered with a net of crystals recall a starry sky, and chiffon slip dresses with sequins recreate the crystalline iridescence of water.
The men’s attire has a similar feel: terry garments with a casual, fifties look. Classic and Bermuda shorts made of stretch poplin in bright block colors or with an iconic striped pattern, bowling shirts with a mix of trademark prints, black and white sweatshirts – recalling a new uniform – with a three-dimensional Prada logo, and extremely lightweight perforated nappa bomber jackets.
The accessories also showcase a vibrant range of materials. The bags are the highlight, and come in a variety of different sizes: multi-coloured cotton drill and woven straw shopping bags, alongside mini bags made of wicker and leather with a chain or soft terry with an embroidered logo. Beach accessories include balls, inflatable rings and mattresses, terry beach towels and cushions, and lunch sets with sandwich boxes and water bottles.
The collection is rounded off by a range of sports accessories like surfboards with nylon covers, not to mention rackets, skateboards, frisbees and beach volleyballs.
