Artist Sébastien Léon Brings “Mirage” Glass Light Sculptures to Ralph Pucci
Los Angeles-based multi-disciplinary artist Sébastien Léon presented a new series of spellbinding glass light sculptures, titled “Mirage,” at Ralph Pucci’s new Wynwood gallery space last week, running concurrent to this year’s edition of Art Basel.
The collection debuted at the luxury furniture and lighting company’s Los Angeles outpost on October 26, and will continue on to the New York showroom in January 2024. Energized by the vibrant standard of the Italian Renaissance studio, the visionary creative intermeshes fine art and design for a riveting oeuvre of personal investigations and high profile commissions—including a bespoke dome for Audi in China, video art for Samsung, and a permanent musical sculpture at the Orange County Museum of Art.

Each “Mirage” Evokes its Origins and Challenges Human Perception
The rigors of mother nature and geometry unite with the fluidity of chaos in Léon’s glass treasures, which find their origins in sand and are formed with the assistance of intense heat and gravitational forces. Blown glass cubes give way to lavish, crystalline vessels that evoke the sensuality of the human form. A sleek silver finish, utilizing the antique mirroring process, bestows a veil of mystery upon each unique piece.
Whether at rest or lit from within, the sculptures sparkle with a vivid metallic glaze, and compelling colors, patterns, and remnants of oxidation become visible. Raised on humble pedestals of wood, cement, or ceramic, each work is a delicate mirage, enthralling viewers and challenging human perception.

Léon Partners with Galerie Praz Delavallade on Psychodessins Book and Show
Currently on presale is a rapturous new book by the artist, titled Psychodessins, in collaboration with Galerie Praz Delavallade, and in anticipation of an enigmatic exhibition of the same name debuting at the gallery’s Los Angeles location in January 2024. The book explores the transcendent depths of Léon’s surreal imagination and artistry, offering 67 vivacious watercolor drawings which will in turn be displayed at the West Coast show, alongside four glass sculptures invoking the symbolic Magnum Opus of alchemy.
