If you’re in London this week for Frieze, be sure to check out Holly Hunt’s showroom at 20 Grafton Street, where a unique mix of design and art will be on view. Hunt and fellow Chicagoan Paula Crown are debuting a recent collaboration of two limited-edition tables, showcased this week alongside a temporary exhibition of Crown’s recent artwork.
“Paula’s graphic sensibility is exceptional and the depth of her fractal drawings made for an interesting application to marble. It has been such a joy to collaborate with her and wonderful to share the result in London for Frieze,” said Hunt.
Coyly titled “The Paula Crown Affair,” the result is a pedestal and side table in Nero Absoluto marble Vetro Bianco marble respectively, with brass fractal inlays on both, a common motif viewers will see reflected in Crown’s art on view.
“Holly Hunt is a multi- hyphenate; an entrepreneur, designer and artist. Her approach to a project is consonant with my approach to creating an artwork. She has an intuitive sense of scale, material and color. I am thrilled that this contemporary discussion continues with The Paula Crown Affair,” said Crown.
And speaking of discussion, on Thursday, October 15, Caroline Roux will moderate one discussion between the artist and designer at the London boutique.
